As you take a tour of the city of Danang, learn about its glorious past and appreciate the centuries old relics at the Cham Museum. On display are the Champa sculpture dating from the 7th to 15th century. You’ll see altars, statues, decorative works collected from Buddhist and Hindu temples apart from about 300 sandstone and terra-cotta sculptures. The museum showcases the eight centuries of evolution of Champa sculpture from the golden age to its decline. Lying very close to the city center are the Marble Mountains, a favourite haunt of visitors to Danang. Bask in the mysterious ambience of the place created by the chiming bells of the pagodas, caves, trees, bushes and the waves.
Marble Mountains were named as ‘Grottoes and Pagodas’ by King Minh Mang who came here almost 200 years ago. Marvel at the intricate craftmanship on every pagoda and tower erected in the 19th century, which includes Champa sculptures of the 14th and 15th century. A grave of Capital Tran Quang Khai’s (chairman of the Vietnam War Veterans Association) mother, a temple worshipping Ngoc Lan princess and remains of the Da Chong tunnel and the Ba Tho cave are truly fascinating. Tour the China Beach that extends north and south of the Marble Mountains. China Beach was used by the American soldiers as a base during the war. A stroll along the pristine silvery coastline of this secluded beach will make you feel tranquil. With intriguing historical relics, artworks and the mesmerising beauty of the Marble Mountain, this tour to Vietnam will be special.
