We realize that there is a large and growing segment of travelers who have gained wisdom with age, and these travelers are seeking unique experiences, away from huge crowds, while touring at a leisurely pace, all the while getting great value.
At Vietnamtourism.info.vn, we have many tours which appeal to seniors because they are not rushed, can accommodate persons needing extra assistance and highlight the history of Southeast Asia, providing true insight, both to seasoned travelers as well as to retirees who may only just now have begun to explore the world.
You will be greeted upon arrival in Hoi An, a UNESCO-listed river-front town crammed with historic homes, tiny museums, cafes, and bustling silk and fish markets. You will tour at a leisurely pace and stop to visit Buddhist cave temples in the Marble Mountains before an overnight stay in Hoi An.
From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab traders. These people came primarily to trade in high grade silk, which is still produced in the area, as well as ceramics. Today, Hoi An is a quaint riverside town, popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, tailors shops, and numerous cafes. Some of the buildings in the narrow streets have remained unchanged for more than a century.
You will enjoy a half-day walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter visiting Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200 – year – old Tam Ky ancestral house, and the Japanese Bridge. Following the tour there will be free time to shop or relax before an overnight stay.
You will bid Hoi An farewell this morning and continue your north-bound journey. The destination for today is the old imperial city of Hue about four hours away. Along the way you will travel over the Hai Van Pass, stopping at the top to take in the stunning views north over Lang Co Beach before arriving in Hue. In the afternoon you will embark on a tour of the city. A visit to Hue would not be complete without taking in attractions such as the Citadel, the Forbidden Purple City, the Imperial Museum and the Dong Ba market.
Rising up in the ancient land, you will have breakfast at the hotel before you board a private traditional boat for a cruise on the romantic Perfume River. Being the ancient capital, Hue is surrounded by ancient tombs of emperors past, and a visit to some of these tombs will be on the itinerary for today. The charming Lady Pagoda (Thien Mu Pagoda) will be the first stop of the day. From here you will rejoin your car to visit ornate Minh Mang’s Tomb and Tu Duc’s Tomb before heading to Hanoi and wherever your next destination may be.
The other beauty of our senior tours, is that no matter what the tour description may say, we are always able to change whatever we need to in order to accommodate our guests. Need a break and want to skip a destination? No problem! On the other hand, maybe you are feeling energized by this beautiful land and want to spend an extra day. We can handle that too!
